My boyfriend I were trying to book a vacation hotel this morning and we both ended up frustrated with each other. This happens every single time that we try to plan a vacation together. It’s because we both have really different approaches to travel planning and those approaches don’t mesh too well with one another.

I am the type of person who wants to find the things that I like and then try to figure out how to afford them. For example, I wanted to stay in a boutique hotel on this vacation so I was looking at the different boutique hotels in the area. I made a spreadsheet comparing their prices and was in the process of going through the coupon codes available for them when my boyfriend interrupted me.

He had found a site offering a deal of the day on a hotel in the area where we are going. He is the kind of person who likes to choose among the available deals to get the best rate on the vacation even if it means staying in a place that isn’t his first choice for accommodations.

We know that this is going to happen every time that we plan a trip. And yet, we run into the issue every time because we’re both a little bit stubborn about which way is the better way to plan a vacation. As far as I’m concerned, my way gets me what I want at a rate that I can afford but I will concede the fact that we do save money when he does the planning.
