A child’s bedroom should be a magical place. This is the child’s space. It is the place where he or she lies down at night and dreams about adventures in and out of this world. It should be a place that is conducive to that kind of dreaming. Since children’s dreams are drawn from fairy tales and Disney movies, these are the things that should feature into the design of a child’s bedroom.

This isn’t to say that you need to completely Disney-up a room for every child. It’s just a reminder that a child’s bedroom should be colorful and fun. It should hint at a world outside of their own experience. For example, kids bedding in a girl’s room may be horse bedding. Better yet, it may be unicorn bedding. It definitely shouldn’t be a single solid color like white or black or blue. It should be fun.

It is also a good idea to include things in the decor that make it obvious that this room belongs to the child. Hanging photo blankets with her favorite pictures of herself printed on them would be one example of how you could add fun and color to a room while displaying that the room is all hers.
