Do You Understand Marketing?
Posted by t50 on 09/25/08 in Marketing
You are interested in marketing. Maybe this is because you want to launch a career as someone who does marketing for other people’s businesses. Or perhaps it is because you have your own business and you want to make sure that it is properly marketed to the best of your ability.
Whatever the reason is, you need to know if you understand as much as you should about marketing. Ask yourself the following questions:
- Can I define marketing? Can I explain it to a fifth grader?
- Do I know about different types of marketing communications including direct mailing services, email communications and advertising?
- Do I know the difference between advertising and marketing and how they interact with one another in a complimentary fashion?
- Do I understand different types of printing that are used for publishing marketing materials? For example, do I know what variable data printing is?
- Do I know where to go to learn more about marketing so that I can always improve my marketing skills?
If you answered yes to these questions then you are probably going to do fine in the business of marketing for others or for yourself. If not, don’t worry, you just have a few things that you need to learn!
