What should I do with Old Jewelry?

Let me start by saying that I’m a pack-rat. Seriously, I still have papers I wrote for school over 10 years ago. I have no use for them, but they’re still sitting there in a box in the closet. So, in an effort to get past my hoarding, I’m going to start selling the things I no longer need.
This brings me to my main question: what should I do with old jewelry? I have 3 main options.
- 1. The first thing I was thinking about was selling it at an online auction. I’ve had a little bit of experience with these sites, but they’ve been hit or miss. Sometimes, my items sell for way more than I predicted, but other times they’ve sold for far less than I hoped. How does jewelry typically do on these sites?
- 2. Another thing I was considering is to sell gold for cash. If I sell gold jewelry, I can get the market value of gold from the company. Admittedly, I don’t have any idea what the current value of gold is, but it seems like this could be a good deal.
- 3. The last thing I briefly thought about was taking it to a pawn shop. But honestly, this isn’t really a viable option. Pawn shops tend to give you the lowest price for your stuff. I think that would be a rip-off.
What do you think I should do?
