I love to go on road trips, but I don’t really feel comfortable driving my car long distances — it’s an older car and I’m afraid of it breaking down.  My solution is to get a rental car in Fort Lauderdale or Orlando and drive it wherever I’m going.  That way my chances of being stranded on the side of the road are pretty slim — and if I do get stranded, well, I can call the Fort Lauderdale or Orlando car rental company and make them come rescue me!

My mom took this same approach when she came to my wedding.  Hubby and I got married out of state, closer to where his family was, and my parents drove to the wedding.  Getting a rental car in Orlando or Fort Lauderdale meant that she didn’t need to worry about her own car (which is also older, a 1990 Toyota Camry, and not so well maintained) not making the trip.

As much as I love road trips, I don’t love breaking down and getting stranded — I’ve seen Breakdown too many times, I guess!  Although I know that movie is fiction, I still believe it’s better safe than sorry — especially as a young woman on the road!
