The Future of Online Education

With the world of online education in full swing, it’s interesting to think about where the industry could be going. We already know that we can get a college degree online from the comfort of our own homes. We know that we can take classes online and complete homework using email and instant messaging services to communicate with instructors and other students. But where the industry could go and how it could get there are interesting components to the discussion.

With the use of webcams and voice-over-internet-protocol (VOIP) technology, you can feel like you’re sitting right in the classroom with your teachers and other students. This, of course, might not be all that beneficial for those that like to attend their online criminal justice degree classes in their underwear or those that really enjoy dancing around the room during their online health care degree classes. Nevertheless, the technology of webcams and VOIP can certainly make an impact in the world of online education.

With new technology, online schooling can also help provide more tangible information to the students. The Internet is filled with information, some of it good and some of it awful, and technology can help illuminate the quality of what’s out there so that prospective students can learn real facts and real figures about things they’re interested in. This, coupled with webcams and VOIP, can make online learning a great experience.
