My Brother’s Getting Ready for School

My brother graduated from High School a few weeks ago and has started preparing for college. I tried to talk him into attending a big school – he is smart enough after all, but he decided to stay in the hometown because of his girlfriend and attend a junior college where he will work towards an IT degree while she works towards her computer animation degree. I thought it was humorous since I had tried so hard to get my own computer programming degree a few years ago before dumping it in favor of my writing degree now, but I haven’t really pushed anything towards him anymore than I already did. He is only 18 after all.
But, that does not mean I will not watch him like a hawk in the weeks to come. I need to make sure that he doesn’t make any of the same mistakes I did in college. I’m not saying I messed up too bad, but the lack of attendance, the drop in my test scores, and the all around freshman laziness really will not go well with his attempt to get a computer related degree in a relatively complex program. Here’s hoping he can overcome that family gene for procrastination.
