How Your High School Guidance Counselor Can Help
Posted by swan480 on 04/25/08 in Careers
When you are trying to decide where to go after graduation, it’s important to listen to your high school guidance counselor. Guidance counselors are trained to know about a variety of different opportunities, as well as how to help students make decisions about what subjects to study and what careers to pursue.
For instance, if you are interested in pursuing a career in the health industry, a guidance counselor can help you find the schools at which you can get the proper training. Your guidance counselor may recommend Sanford Brown, a group of schools that is well known in the industry. The Sanford Brown Institute has many different campuses, so chances are there is one near you: For instance, Sanford Brown Jacksonville and Sanford Brown Institute Tampa are two Florida campuses, while Sanford Brown Dallas and Sanford Brown Institute Houston are examples of campuses located in Texas.
However, not every high school junior or senior knows what they want to be when they grow up. Your guidance counselor can help you here too: They have aptitude tests to pinpoint your interests and the careers that would best utilize them, as well as many different resources on various different types of careers.
Trust to your high school guidance counselor — no matter where you are in the process of choosing a school and a career, they are sure to be able to help make the decisions a little less overwhelming!
