Everyone needs to update their office now and then. For many people, this means that they have excess office furniture on their hands. Nobody wants to just throw good furniture into the landfill but most people aren’t sure what to do with office furniture that they no longer need.

Here are some options for using or getting rid of furniture that you no longer need in your office:

• Sell it. If it’s in good condition, you might as well get some money back for it. List it in your local classifieds and see if it sells. Make sure to include a picture if it’s an online classified ad because it’s more likely to sell that way.
• Give it away to someone you know. There are plenty of people who would be happy to get someone else’s old office desk. Consider helping out a friend or family member who doesn’t have a lot of money and could use some good office furniture. Maybe they’ll even come haul it away for you and save you the trouble.
• Donate it. Goodwill and other places like it are happy to take this kind of furniture off of your hands.
• Use it somewhere else. Maybe your office chair is too shabby for the office but would work well in your den at home.

Someone out there can use the office furniture that you don’t need anymore. If you think creatively, you might even find that you can use it in a new way yourself!
