Are You Tired All the Time?

Do you feel tired all the time, even though you can’t think of any good reason why you should?  Do you frequently wake up feeling like you haven’t slept at all?

I’m not talking about if you habitually get 4 hours of sleep a night.  I’m not talking about people who (you know who you are) party every night and go to bed drunk.  If you are always up late partying, or never make sure you get enough sleep, then there’s a perfectly good explanation for why you are tired all the time — and you are the one who needs to fix that particular problem.

However, some people find that they are tired all the time, even though they get plenty of sleep.  If you find yourself getting tired, falling asleep at inappropriate times (such as while driving or working), feeling irritable all the time, or not able to perform during sex, you might have a medical condition that is causing your extreme exhaustion.

Here are a few medical conditions that could be the culprit:

  1. Diabetes – People with untreated diabetes get tired all the time because their bodies aren’t getting the energy it needs: The sugar in the blood stream isn’t getting transferred into the body’s cells.  Before I was diagnosed as diabetic, I easily got 10 hours of sleep a night, yet I always needed a mid-day nap as well — and I was still absolutely exhausted by the time bedtime rolled around.  Once I started taking insulin and got my blood sugar levels under control, however, my energy levels picked up and I stopped feeling tired all the time.
  2. Hypothyroidism – Hypothyroidism is a condition where the thyroid doesn’t manufacture enough hormone.  Since thyroid hormone controls the body’s metabolism, someone without enough of the hormone gets tired all the time, gains weight, struggles with depression, and suffers other symptoms such as a less active sex drive.  With some replacement hormone therapy, you’ll be feeling back to yourself in no time!
  3. Sleep apnea — Sleep apnea is a pretty common, and often pretty scary, condition that causes a person to stop breathing at times throughout the night.  The cessation of breath is usually pretty brief, but can happen frequently, disrupting sleep patterns and making it impossible for the person to get enough rest.  The condition is treated by using a BiPAP or CPAP machine while you sleep, which keeps your airway open and keeps you breathing continuously.  This CPAP equipment is usually covered at least in part by your health insurance provider.

If you are tired all the time and you can’t think of a reasonable explanation why, chances are there is something wrong that is causing your fatique.  You should definitely visit your doctor and have them run tests to find out what’s wrong with you — there’s no reason why you should have to live with tiredness all the time!

How Your High School Guidance Counselor Can Help

When you are trying to decide where to go after graduation, it’s important to listen to your high school guidance counselor.  Guidance counselors are trained to know about a variety of different opportunities, as well as how to help students make decisions about what subjects to study and what careers to pursue.

For instance, if you are interested in pursuing a career in the health industry, a guidance counselor can help you find the schools at which you can get the proper training.  Your guidance counselor may recommend Sanford Brown, a group of schools that is well known in the industry.  The Sanford Brown Institute has many different campuses, so chances are there is one near you: For instance, Sanford Brown Jacksonville and Sanford Brown Institute Tampa are two Florida campuses, while Sanford Brown Dallas and Sanford Brown Institute Houston are examples of campuses located in Texas.

However, not every high school junior or senior knows what they want to be when they grow up.  Your guidance counselor can help you here too: They have aptitude tests to pinpoint your interests and the careers that would best utilize them, as well as many different resources on various different types of careers.

Trust to your high school guidance counselor — no matter where you are in the process of choosing a school and a career, they are sure to be able to help make the decisions a little less overwhelming!

But there are certainly people who live in Florida that have enough money to foot the bill for a high-priced home designer if they want one.

Here are just a few of the celebrities who live in Florida either full-time or part-time; any one of them might take an interest in having a custom home builder in FL design them a place they could love to live in.

  • Larry Bird. You know him from the basketball court but these days he’s living a more leisurely life in the Naples, Florida region.
  • Matt Damon. This actor spends a lot of time in Hollywood but he’s got a home to enjoy in Miami Beach.
  • Joey Fatone. Maybe you liked him from N’Sync or perhaps you know him from Dancing with the Stars. Would you be able to spot him near his home in Orlando?

Solar Safety Signs and Earth Day

Hopefully you’re already aware of the fact that today, April 22nd, is Earth Day. It comes at the end of a week of environmental activist events so there’s a good chance that you’ve already done something to show your appreciation for the earth. However, you can probably do a little bit more and today is a perfect day to look into doing it. Every little bit helps.

Take, for example, a small business that sells safety signs to larger companies. These signs are used in parking lots, building sites and other areas to warn others about dangers in the vicinity. The small sign reseller probably doesn’t think that he has a lot of say in improving the environment. However, he always has a choice.

The choice in this case is to start purchasing solar safety signs and encouraging new and existing customers to switch to these. Instead of using energy-wasting light to make sure that the information on a sign is seen, solar signs work through a combination of limited battery power and solar paneling to offer an eco-friendly alternative to the traditional sign.

If every single maker and seller of signs like these switched over to alternative energy signs, we’d see a big change in the environment. And that’s the case with basically every business there is so make sure that you’re doing your part. Start today; it’s Earth Day after all.

3 Things to Think about when Building a Pool

So you’ve decided to build a pool in your backyard.  It’s a great idea for Florida residents, as a private pool increases your home’s value — especially in resort areas.

But did you cover all your bases?  Here are three things to think about before hiring a Florida pool contractor.

  1. Research pool builders.  Once that pool is built, it’s built, so before looking at Tampa, Jacksonville, or Fort Myers pool builders, be sure to research all your choices.  Weed out contractors that have generated complaints, and check to see if your remaining choices are members of the Better Business Bureau.
  2. Discuss placement and design with an experienced pool builder.  A Tampa pool builder should be able to help you make important decisions regarding your pool’s design, placement, and other features.
  3. Compare prices and make sure you can really afford a pool.  The trend these days is for American home owners to spend way more than they can afford.  Debt and foreclosure are major problems, and a few years with a pool might not seem so grand if you have to give up your home.  Compare prices between different Florida pool builders, and ask yourself honestly if this is something you can afford.  Be sure to get a variety of quotes so that you can be sure to stay within your budget!

A private swimming pool can be great to have for many reasons.  Not only can it give you lots of enjoyment, but it also increases the value of your house and makes the property more appealing — particularly in a resort state such as Florida.  Just make sure you consider all of the pertinent issues before hiring a contractor and building a pool!
